Published: June 30, 2008

Contributed report

The three individuals sought in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Powhatan resident Tahliek Taliaferro are now in custody.

According to a statement released by the Powhatan County Sheriff’s Office, Ethan Scott Parrish, 24, and Joseph Parrish, Jr., 17, turned themselves in to authorities at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The two’s surrender followed that of Stephanie Reynolds, 19, who had turned herself in at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

The three had been on the run following last Tuesday evening’s shooting near Dorsett Road, which killed Taliaferro and left a juvenile hospitalized in serious condition.

Reynolds and Ethan Parrish are being held without bond until their preliminary court appearance on July 2. Joseph Parrish, also being held without bond, will appear before a Juvenile Court judge on a date to be determined by the court.

old timer in mosley you have done insulted every memeber of the powhatan police department.  they put their lifes on the line every day and for you to say something like shows that you don’t know nothing.  what has happened to you anyways to make you think the law isn’t fair.  probably just spouting off without proof like everybody else.  don’t think sheriff reynolds had two deputies.  he needed more than that.  he was so nice, he let people go a lot. your probably thinking of sheriff simpson back in the early 1900’s.  need more deputies now that we know we have people like you out on the roads.

iMME of “yer ass”—if what you say is true that “Taliaferro flashed a gun” -then they would be able to prove this in court. And I just think your full of crap. I know every single one of the boys that were following Joey because HE PROVOKED THEM. Yes this has been an ongoing issue, it seems, but NO ONE deserves to be shot and have there life ended. The suspects were there to KILL, you do NOT bring 3 guns somewhere if you did not intend to kill/harm someone. If they feared for there stupid lives, when they saw Tahliek and his friends, they would not have been yelling at them, asking them to follow them down dorset. You sound so stupid and uneducational. Joey was a trouble maker and probably didn’t give a crap what happened to him his whole life anyways. He shouldve manned the heck up, and fought Tahliek ONE ON ONE , using FISTS NOT GUNS, because using a GUN MAKES YOU A PUNK. And i HOPE & PRAY he ROTS in jail for life or gets the DEATH PENALTY.

i lived in and around p town all my life. i remember when sheriff reynolds and two deputies ran the whole county and the justice system was fair.but now youve got thirty some officers who think they are god with a badge. and a justice system that makes their own laws as they go.so dont expect much.

It’s a sad time here in Powhatan. Our children fighting over thngs that really don’t matter. He loves her,she loves him. To kill someone over such a minute matter. Our children need to learn we are a family, no matter what color, or race. God put us on this here to live together as we act as though life means nothing. Do we really want our childrento grow up thinking that just because we are differant that we don’t have the right to live. God is watching us and we are failing the test of life. We need to come together as one and unite as a family. We need to get along and join together and prepare for the the test of life that God will giveus. Don’t waste what time we have to join together, rejoice, live, love and be happy. Time is too short to waste. Sorry for all the lose we have had.

Has anyone every thought that maybe Stephanie was scared I mean come on…. she could have possibly not known what was going to happen and scared to death after it happened… what would you do if you were with someone that had guns???? You can not judge her…as for the shooter yes he deserves the life time in jail I agree… but why not wait till the whole story comes out??? I know one of the suspects and if you knew her you would never ever thought something like this would happen to her. As for Taliaferro family I am truly sorry about your loss, b/c only God decides when it is time to take his children not a human… but why follow someone looking to fight?

Thank goodness those involved turned themselves in-and may justice be served.  I hope they are locked up and the key thrown away so that no one else is harmed.  What a waste of 3 lives, and the promising future of the victim.  What a tragic occurrence.  What could possibly have been said to have warranted such a retaliation?  NOTHING.  No one deserves to be murdered.  My heart breaks for the Taliaferro family.
