Beaumont Juvenile Correction Center, located in northern Powhatan County, has ended its search for a new superintendent.

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice chose Charles Dockery to replace Michael Ito, who resigned in September after serving six years in the role.  It is unknown whether Ito’s resignation was forced or voluntary.

Dockery had served as interim superintendent since Ito’s resignation, and, according to VDJJ spokesperson Robin Farmer, has worked in Virginia’s juvenile justice system for more than 31 years.  Dockery officially became the new superintendent on Christmas Day.

Beaumont Correctional Center, located off Route 522 at the Powhatan/Goochland line, houses approximately 240 male offenders between the ages of 15 and 21.
