The World War II Round Table of Central Virginia will host its second meeting on July 8, featuring an interview with a veteran of the British Expeditionary Force.

The veteran, whose name was not available at press time, was trapped at Dunkirk during the War and later managed to escape from Brest after the defeat of the British and French armies in May of 1940.

According to a release issued by the Round Table, the soldier returned to France after D Day and served the remainder of the war with the 1st Armored Division. He entered the service as a driver and came out as a staff captain.

Meetings of the WWII roundtable are always held on the second Wednesday of every month at Father Val Hall, located at 2480 Batterson Road (St. John Neumann’s Catholic Church.)

Meetings begin at 7 p.m. and a coffee social follows directly afterward.
