Bustos is in, but where does he stand? Published: October 21, 2009 By Michael Copley Powhatan Today Staff Writer Michael Copley asked Bustos about the recent outcry over his appointment and about his plans for handling the issues facing the county in the immediate future: Do you think there would have been the same reaction from citizens if you were a republican?

Is this some kind of joke? What do ugg boots have to do with anything? Sound tacky to me. Reminds me of the song these boots are made for walking. The parties and there leaders have walked all over the people. I’m trying to get educated about turning things around. I think we need a third party with some commmon sense. W.E.

Who even knows what the democratic and republican agendas really are. All it seems like they do is fight like cats and dogs over everything. Better for them to have cats and dogs as their symbols than donkeys and elephants. resident of Moseley

Is anyone else concerned about Mr. Bustos saying he would put the “Democratic agenda on the backburner for twelve months . . . [while supporting] Charlie Green‘s agenda.” What does this mean? How will anyone know what his views or positions are if he can go around saying: “I’m doing what Charlie wanted” for 13 months. Mr. Green’s memory should not be used like this. Not everyone who knew Mr. Green agree on what he wanted. Men, who knew Mr. Green for years, spoke in opposition to the appointment. Yet these comments have been ignored. Deer Watching of my truck

Watching It’s clearly obvious that you, like most liberals prefer to stick with rhetoric in lieu of facts. Or whatever fits the narrow prism of a predetermined conclusion. You have no clue how the RNC works in this county. Absolutely none whatsoever. I have learned that most of the time, if you want insight into how the DNC works and operates, simply look at what they accuse Republicans of doing. Especially when invoking union bosses and comrades, last time I checked, it wasn’t the RNC in bed with the unions or having administration officials citing Mao Tse-tung. Dear Watching of Powhatan

Your words are most pious and resentful regarding the “prc”. You are obviously trying to insult the county Republicans and I must say you have done a good job. How in God’s green earth can’t you see this was not about politics, but about a fair way to select someone to fill Charlie Green’s vacant seat. frum used the word wrong and it is spelled shill not schill as i have seen here come come now, they tried the team approach as if there was any hist basis in political lore anywhere for that to work - candidates rise and fall on their own and parties and “teams” mean little to the voters that decide elections who runs on a platform of preserving or creating a majority in the legis body they seek office in? where has that ever worked? our dear comrades in the prc are supposed to be seasoned poli campaigners and smarter than something the pezzonovante in the prc (union bosses) tried mightly to get the woman that challenged daniels on their ticket, bise as previously explained and managed to get tucker as they thought it would help them lead the county - but now one started up some ‘alternative to partisan politics’ all of a sudden after decades of trying to stay relevant the partisan ‘team’ way that a potential candidate wouldn’t or couldn’t, who is already supposedly politically active, run for family reasons sounds like the HBO special Outrage the peasants in the prc didn’t ‘see’ this, supposedly weren’t privy and weren’t expected to understand…..but they are supposed to be peasants County Resident of Powhatan, Va

watching You seem to misunderstand. People do not run for office, bec. they are Republican or Democrat or how their district votes. Several people make the decision to run or not run based on finances, family or time. It does not mean that you or a party support or oppose someone. So, the fact that no republican ran against Bise does not make him a shill for the Republican Party. Fun though how that is the same word used by John Forum on the Democratic website before the website was taken down. Brian French of Powhatan Today
