A federal search warrant executed by the DEA turned up over a half pound of marijuana in a county home last year.

Federal agents searched Glenn Worrell’s home September 4, 2008 because the individual targeted in the warrant was known to frequent Worrell’s residence.

Worrell arrived home while agents were conducting their search and he told them he had bought a pound of marijuana every three months for the last five or six years.

He said the majority was for personal use but admitted to selling small quantities of the drug to five regular clients.

It was noted that Worrell has no prior criminal history and his bond was continued ahead of a sentencing hearing next term.

Hey Isabel!!  I have been to Amsterdam.  Did you know that the crime rate there is way lower than here in the Divided States.  The high school drop out rate is also much lower.  I guarantee that no “perp” that is high on MJ will ever commit a violent crime.  Other drugs, even legal ones(alcohol) cause violent crimes.  That fellow that was murdered out there was not drug related and who’s to say he wasn’t high on cocaine?  Get your facts straight!  Alcohol is more dangerous than MJ will EVER be.  No one have EVER overdosed on MJ.  MJ has never killed or hurt anyone.  My prescription pills are more harmful to me than pot.  Maybe its you that needs to pick up a real paper besides the “times-disgrace.”  The Gov’t wants you to take “their” drugs.  Pot is a natural occuring plant that has been on this earth longer than people, prescription drugs, alcohol,......etc.  Once again…........GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!  It’s people like you that have turned this country upside down and inside out.  The USA used to be great and free…..then you showed up!

Please stop tossing hate around.  At the center of this is the children of this family.  Not only are you trying the father in the court of public opinion, but the innocent ones as well.  Leave the wife and kids out of it.  You should want to help this family, lift them up through this difficult time and assure them that just because Mr. Worrell committed a crime does not mean the etire family should be condemned as criminals.  Been there, done that:(

While you sleep Barbara, maybe you should consider how *no big deal* drug use in Powhatan (and other places) has been one of the driving forces behind MULTIPLE murders, shootings, crimes and high school drop outs!!!!! Maybe you have read about these incidents in the paper???

They’re no big deal…. to you! Not to mention the dealers that bring in the drugs to Powhatan to sell to Mr. Worrell and others including our kids. You don’t think they are armed????

MJ is ILLEGAL; that means punishable. I disagree with you it is a big deal. Have you considered how many crimes probably could have been prevented if the perps weren’t high??? Tahliek would probably still be here! You need to get your head out of the sand… and perhaps move to the Netherlands where even that government is seriously considering rescinding legalized pot.

You have NO credibility here!

Hey friend - what does hale mean?  If you can’t spell it maybe you shouldn’t use it.  As usual the RACE card has to be thrown into it.  ONCE AGAIN folks this is NOT all that important in the scope of things going on in our community.

Let me get this right, a white man in Powhatan County admits to buying, smoking and selling drugs to a select group of people is hale as a role model? The Black’s in Powhatan get caught with a pound of weed he looking at 30 years in prison. It was a black guy the cops would not have let it go on for five to six years. Only in POWHATAN.

No one is disputing that marijuana is illegal.  However I think we have far more serious issues in our community than marijuana.  The recent killings and suicides of the youth in our community is what is currently concerning me.  This little small time case is just that.
