Charge against Reynolds reduced Published: March 25, 2009 By Michael Copley, Staff Writer A motion by the Commonwealth today reduced the charge against Stephanie Reynolds, the woman who drove Ethan Parrish on the night he shot and killed Powhatan High School student Tahliek Taliaferro, from first degree murder to involuntary manslaughter. Reynolds, originally charged with first degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding, was in General District Court this afternoon for a preliminary hearing as family and friends of Tahliek Taliaferro protested the jury’s Monday manslaughter verdict in the case against Ethan and his cousin Joey Parrish. The court accepted the motion and the Commonwealth announced it would not pursue the other charges against Reynolds. Protestors held up signs outside the courthouse Wednesday that read “Murder is ok in Powhatan,” “Murder is no accident,” and one that asked passersby to “Honk for justice.” Reynolds testified last week in the case against the Parrishes. She was released this evening on $5,000 bond. Her next court appearance is April 14 at 10 a.m. |

I’m sorry but this is just getting old. This never was an issue of raceial intolerance but an issue between several drugged up teens being stupid. No matter how the situation ends up there is not a single person who is innocent in this situation. Powhatan ressidents are simply not used to this type of thing and severly overreact. This is just stupid at this point. People should just go on with their lives. Sad in Powhatan

This question is for Ryan? What does justice will be served supposed to mean? To me it sounds like a threat. You are not the only one I have heard this from. I am so sorry for your loss but what have you learned from this. If you really knew Tahliek then you probably know a lot about what happened that day. Do you know what was in the cars? You know what a lot of these boys were really all about. Answer these questions truthfully. What I want the young people to see is this kind of behavior must stop. You don’t fool around with gangs, guns, and drugs and it not eventually catch up with you. You know what I am talking about. I truly feel terrible about the tragedy that took place but can you and your friends try to learn something from this. Try to make good choices in life. Stay away from things that will lead you in the wrong direction. As I said before I know that none of the kids involved in this terrible incident were innocent on June 24, 2008. Tahliek did not deserve to die, Courtney did not deserve to be shot and go through what he did but what you kids are thinking when you say “justice will be served” is this really going to change anything. Someone else is going to be hurt. When will this end. My daughter is not much older than you and she told me a while back that all but about 3 of her girlfriends from school were doing hard core drugs. This all leads to destruction. I have heard of the gangs 684 and 622 boys. What are these kids thinking. This needs to end and please let this tragedy bring a change about in the kids behavior today. No one needs to join Tahliek in the graveyard. powhatan mom

Hmm. I am called an idiot and a fool. Can you please explain this, or are you just like the other brainless fools on this forum making jackasses out of themselves? Calling people names without an explanation constitutes childish behavior, which I have been accused of on this forum. I have not called anyone here any names until now, but I cannot keep having battles of wits with all you unarmed opponents. It just is not fair. All I want is an explanation as to why my opinion is wrong, with proof. My educated guess is that is impossible on a forum like this one full of White guilt and idiotic liberals. Oh, and as I have stated before, I have lived in several locations and your issues are not unique. There are just as many liberal, White guilt tripping idiots feeling sorry for some black that has been done wrong in the places I have lived as there are in Powhatan County. And now, back to Walter Ring bashing, White guilt and racism charges. Betty of Powhatan

Well, I guess the people that were upset about the Parrish boys’ verdicts are going to go ballistic over this one. I know I am a hated man for my previous comments on this issue, but I really do not care at all. In fact, I welcome anyone’s hatred over my comments as a triumph of my free speech over their so-called “tolerance.” I will say, however, that this girl seems to be the cause of the whole thing, she is a snitch, and quite frankly I do not really care what happens to her one way or another.
