Convicted of sexual battery of six year old child, man faces 20 years Published: August 20, 2009 By Michael Copley, Staff Writer A Henrico County man accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s six-year-old daughter was convicted of aggravated sexual battery in Powhatan August 10. Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Beasley told the Circuit Court that Tremayne Horace Grate, 29, dated the child’s mother from June through November 2008 and that he babysat the girl and her siblings while their mother worked and attended school at night. Beasley said the sexual abuse occurred on multiple occasions while the child’s mother was away, “but the girl could not give specific dates or remember how many times Grate abused her.” Grate remains in custody ahead of a sentencing hearing in October. He faces 20 years in prison. |
