Powhatan’s own Community Action Agency (PCAA) begins operation July 1.

Rovenia Vaughan, Community Services Coordinator, will continue the successful emergency assistance program she has administered here with the Richmond based agency, CAPUP, for over 15 years.  The program provides eligible residents with a range of services and resources that promote self sufficiency and independence.

These may include temporary help with shelter and utility costs, food and clothing, help with medical costs and transportation.

PCAA’s office is located in the Human Services Building in the Village, along with the Departments of Health and Social Services.

The telephone number is (804) 598-5630.

Before July 1, Ms. Vaughan can be reached at (804) 598-3351.

All of CAPUP’s other programs will continue as usual.

There will be no changes in the Friendship Café, food pantry or transportation programs.

PCAA looks forward to continuing this critical emergency assistance program for Powhatan County residents.
