In July 2010, a search of Tommy E. Grasty’s personal belongings turned up more than an ounce of marijuana concealed in a container of baby powder.

Grasty, a 45-year-old inmate of Deep Meadow Correctional Center, pleaded guilty to the felony drug charge and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Richard Cox recommended a light sentence – the charge carried up to 10 years in prison – because he said Grasty cooperated with investigators.
