Five more charged in Taliaferro shooting Published: August 20, 2008 By Michael Copley Five Powhatan residents were arrested on August 12, suspected of unlawfully aiding Joseph Parrish Jr., Ethan Parrish, and Stephanie Reynolds after the shooting death of 18-year-old Tahliek Taliaferro. All charges against the suspects are similar, but some fall under the jurisdiction of Amelia County. David T. Franklin, 22, and Bennett B. Davis, 19, were arraigned as codefendants in Powhatan General District Court Friday August 15; both are charged with six counts of accessory after the fact in a felony and one count of obstruction of justice. Additionally, Davis was charged with possession of marijuana at the time of the arrest. Franklin’s bond was set at $35,000 Friday and Bennett’s was set at $30,000. Both are due back in court in Powhatan October 24 at 11 a.m. Randall C. Powers, 48, and Brenda F. Powers, 44, were also arrested August 12. They are both charged with six counts of accessory after the fact in a felony and one count of destroying, altering, or concealing physical evidence in a felony. All charges against the Powers fall under Amelia jurisdiction. Randall Powers is being held on $50,000 bond and Brenda Powers is being held without bond; both were arraigned in Amelia August 19. Brad L. Harris, 34, was the fifth arrest August 12. He is charged in Amelia with six counts of accessory after the fact in a felony and one count of destroying, altering, or concealing physical evidence in a felony. Additionally, Harris faces one charge of obstructing justice in Powhatan. He was released on $50,000 bond. |
