Thanks AJ for your succint, correct reply.
The VDF will be among the first to respond to support the county’s first responders to an emergency (hurricane, major fire etc). And should I again chair the Festival of the Grape, it will be my strong recommendation to the Festival Committee that we ask them back.
I wholeheartedly, openly, unabashedly thank the people in military service for our freedom so we can express our opinions openly. We must question things. It’s part of keeping democracy alive.
Question: What does ‘myopic’ mean? shortsigntedness.

Because they are around, they offered, they are professional, and they have experience with crowd control and parking.

Oh Wow! Nice use of the word myopic…You just went over the head of many as to
what the word myopic means. What is myopic about giving one’s opinion in the LOCAL newspaper? Did you have the privilege to do that?
I respect your opinion tho a bit desultory.Especially not knowing a thing about me.Thanks for ALL the nice assumptions. How often is that done to us.If I am in need of having my “fat” pulled out of the fire,at a Wine Tasting,I can only hope we all are not in that same boat.
Why is it that in a county of so many nice folks, the seemingly prevailing thought is….only MY opinion counts…and not anyone else?
Have we really grown that…(wait for it) .....myopic that we not allowed to question things? Why is it, no matter what color, race or political persuasion…..we dont count! Why is that ,mam?
Again I will ask you ...why was this particular group chosen?
why not….the Lions Club? Ruritan? Jay-cee’s?....or a NON para-military for the Chamber of Commerce’s Wine Festival!

Garcon’s myopic rant about the presence of the Virginia Defense Force at Powhatan’s Festival of the Grape is an insult to his very neighbors (assuming he lives in Powhatan). It was the Powhatan chapter of the Virginia Defense Force who was on site and who would undoubtedly pull his fat out of the fire in a local emergency. They are all Powhatan residents. Garcon must ask himself if he is capable of and/or willing to act in an emergency to help his fellow residents. The VDF is. The VDF provided a tremendous service to the Festival not only in effectively overseeing the orderly parking of an overwhelming number of vehicles, but helped ensure open containers did not come into or go out of the area. They also provided assistance to the few who needed it. I apologize to the Powhatan chapter of the VDF for this one person’s ill-considered, unthoughtout opinion. I am/was proud to have you a part of the Festival team, and I gratefully thank you for volunteering and being so professional.

To all of the people who took pictures at wine festival would you please submit them to the photo gallery.  I saw this black life-size woman lamp there at one of the vendor’s booths and I am trying to find it. I am sure that with over 7,000 people there, there has to be a lot more than nine photos that were taken.  I saw at least fifty or sixty people taking photos with that lamp.  Thanks! Yvonne
