Men charged with sex crimes will be tried together

A man charged with having sex with minors was ordered to remain in custody after a preliminary hearing in the case was continued on a motion from the Commonwealth.

Tara Hatcher, an assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Powhatan who handles cases in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, said her motion was based on the desire to try codefendants William A Richardson and Orman E. Dixon at the same time.

William Richardson, 38, who is being held without bond, is charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

51-year-old Orman Dixon, whose bail was set at $10,000 last week, is charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

A preliminary hearing for the two men is scheduled for September 22.

Why has this been ignored and not reported on since August? What happened to these criminals?

Some witness of Powhatan

When this stuff was going on, Allen was Oh so happy to take advantage of one of the victims, and was obsessed with her.  He wanted to date her, get her pregnant, have her live with him.. He wanted her all to himself.  And the girl was afraid to say what she really thought about anything. He even kicked out a friend of her’s because he became jealous of them.  Allen gave the girls cell phones, which I’m pretty sure was a ‘‘hush’’ present.  He’s a sick man and I wish I would’ve punched him in the face and I don’t know why I didn’t.

Disappointed of Powhatan

It amazes me that someone with a record of skipping out on court appearances would be afforded bond. Mr. Dixon fled a prior court date taking authorities a year to locate him. A gross waste of taxpayer dollars and man power. Are the residents of Powhatan County supposed to sit idly by and watch this man get away with it again? Are the citizens of this commonwealth supposed to have any faith whatsoever in the justice system? It seems we citizens have no say in what predators are roaming the streets looking to pray on the next child that tickles their fancy. What would happen if these acts were performed on the child of a judge? A lawyer? A politician? I would bet my money that Mr. Dixon nor Mr. Richardson would ever again see the light of day. The law that aids these men from being charged with rape as the girls were 15 and 16 is ridiculous. They are children! Ponder that residents of Powhatan on election day.
