They came, they saw and, Lord knows, the members of the 2010 of Powhatan Leadership Institute class certainly learned a lot.

That was the sentiment as the group — representing the 6th PLI class to graduate from the program — celebrated their considerable achievement with a dinner at The Mill at Fine Creek.
During the course of the evening, graduates were congratulated by county leaders for their perseverance in completing the class, which encompassed lessons on just about everything Powhatan has to offer.

After dinner, the group was treated to a presentation by Dr. John A Weinberg, Senior Vice-President and Director of the Research Department for The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia.
Graduates received their diplomas, and grabbed a well-deserved hug from County Administrator Carolyn Bishop and supervisors Carson Tucker and Joe Walton, himself a PLI graduate.
The 2010 PLI graduates: Karen Bailey, Lynda Barone, Cassandra Dodson, Marilyn Durham, Claudette Fentress-Holmes, June Giuliani, Thomas Hasenfang, Allison Hunter, Helen Jackson-Darden, Suzanne Jepson, Kristin Lints, Alan Lyons, Judy Lyons, Debra Markel, Carol Mason, Howard C. McKoy, Linda Meade, Joy Monopoli, Kathryn O’Grady, James Parch, Barbara Person Whittington, Todd Rojcewicz, Kathleen Sherman, Phil Sherman, Lorrie Shevrin, Nan Tomlinson, Al Upton and R. Cody Whittington.

Haha, they aren’t the rich and famous of Powhatan; they’re just the recent crop of ten-cent millionaires to move out to “anytown USA” and try to be “leaders” in a community that doesn’t need, or want them.

My hometown is Powhatan, and I’m finishing my doctoral degree, why don’t I get a photo-op? Oh wait, that’s just for ignorant white trash who beleive that by going into debt to afford that car and to afford that house, and in taking a .....“class”..... they are somehow “high society” citizens.
