Planning Commission will pick up comp plan talk today Published: July 29, 2009 Staff report The Powhatan County Planning Commission will meet today for a teleconference with consultants from McBride Dale Clarion, in order to complete what county Planning Director Brandon Stidham describes as a first working draft of the county’s updated comprehensive plan. Today’s meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Powhatan County Administration Building large conference room. The meeting is a continuation of a recent workshop, during which planning commissioners offered feedback to the consultants on what has been proposed so far. While the current draft officials have been reviewing is still “an internal document” according to Stidham, and has not yet been posted to the county’s Web site, Stidham says it is available to the public at the Planning Department office. One the Planning Comission has finalized the first working draft—expected to be done today—Stidham says he expects the document to be available for public review some time after Labor Day. Stidham said that a best case scenario would have the document voted on by the Planning Commission in November and the Board of Supervisors in December. Between now and November, however, the county plans to hold a number of public meetings to gather feedback from residents. “We’re hoping to get the same level of public input as before,” |
