Powhatan resident takes plea deal in drug case Published: April 11, 2011 By Michael Copley In July 2010, an informant working with investigators in the Powhatan Sheriff’s Office went to an apartment on Batterson Road in Powhatan and bought 40 pills of a prescription painkiller for $160. The transaction was monitored by detectives and recorded using audio and video equipment. Last week the defendant, 51-year-old James David Davidson, agreed to a deal with prosecutors that dismissed two charges of drug distribution in exchange for a guilty plea to a single lesser charge of drug possession. Davidson was initially charged with three counts of distribution of a schedule two drug. Circuit Judge James F. D’Alton Jr. accepted the plea deal and allowed Davidson to remain free on bond ahead of a June 10 sentencing hearing. Davidson faces up to 10 years in prison. |

I bet the guy that got busted selling pot to an informant will do more time than this guy. I don’t condone the sale of any illegal drug, but I have to agree to a degree with “anonymous”. It really does depend on who you know, the “good ole boys” club prevails in this small town like it does in so many of them throughout the nation. If this is NOT the case, it would behoove our Sheriffs department to prove it, to restore our faith as a community that you will enforce the law equally regardless of the persons history, what town they live in, how long they’ve been in Powhatan or where they go to church. I just do not know why powhatan picks on certain people but they do. If you are not rich then you know that they are going to mess with ya. If you know someone they will let you go. It all depends on who you are. I do not know why they say they are broke. Meisha of Powhatan

Funny how the Commonwealth’s Attorney said in Circuit Court that “Drug dealers don’t go free in Powhatan” but yet case after case this has proved false. Did he have a certain agenda that day but has a different one now? Submit Your Comments Below Commenting is not available in this weblog entry. |
