The Powhatan Sheriff’s Office arrested three county residents Tuesday night, July 14, and seized suspected marijuana, cocaine and firearms from a home on Mountain View Road.

Powhatan Detective Kevin Wolfe said Timothy Watson, 24, Todd Watson, 21, and James Earl Porter, 20, were arrested without incident Tuesday night around 11:05 p.m., when detectives, patrol officers and members of Powhatan’s tactical team executed a search warrant at a home in the 2300 block of Mountain View Road.

According to Powhatan crime analyst Ann Reynolds, Porter is charged with possession of marijuana; Timothy Watson is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm while in the possession of a controlled substance and sale/distribution of marijuana; Todd Watson is charged with possession of a controlled substance and sale/distribution of marijuana.

Timothy Watson’s bond was posted at $20,000 Friday and he was released ahead of a September 18 hearing.

According to the Powhatan General District Court, Todd Watson was re arrested Friday, July 17, for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs. He was free on bond after being arrested July 14.

Ann Reynolds, of the Powhatan Sheriff’s Office, said Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received reports Friday of a vehicle being driven erratically. Patrol deputies responded and arrested Todd Watson. Blood samples were taken and sent to the lab for testing; results have not yet come back on those tests. His bond was revoked and he is being held in custody.

James Earl Porter elected to retain his own lawyer and he is due back in court August 21.

Here we go again with everyone taking sides and both sides knowing it all. A drug dealer/user off the street…this is the story, get over the rest of it. Seeing the names on the other post I am sure you see no wrong. Bad part is you are like fleas it is hard to deal with you one at a time.

It is typical for law enforcement to inflate the charges to the fullest extent possible. Just like guys on a fishing trip, embellishing the size of their catch.

Who is to say that they were being used during the sale and not hanging on the wall on a gun rack in a seperate room of a differnt person who was not or who never has sold anything.  Until you know the whole story your comments should be kept to your self.  And yes I do know the whole story so I feel free to comment as much as I like

Read it for what it is instead of reading into it Edna.  Bornhere is right about the names and the article only indicates the block of the house searched.  Up here they’d list the exact address for just about any crime.  I’m glad they are working on the drug situation in the Red Lane area.

it says “charged with”..not guilty of..Calm down, Edna..It’s standard procedure to publish their names and charges, unless they are juveniles..

And, Tawanda..The main issue here is the possession of illegal drugs.  And possession of a firearm during the sale of illegal drugs is..well..illegal…Not owning the gun, but using it during an illegal activity..

Calm down, people..I, for one, am ecstatic our Sheriff’s Department is cracking down on illegal drugs in our county..:)

In this case I was asumming that they have already been found guilty, due to the fact that there names and address’ were posted in the paper for all to see.  To my surprise as I continued reading they have not even been to court yet and as far as the Powhatan public is concerned they are unjusttifiably branded for life as drug dealing gun toters.
