Two houses on Genito Rd were broken into August 3- one in the 2000 block, the other in the 2100 block-  bringing to nine the number of homes burglarized in Powhatan since July 1. The sheriff’s office is urging residents to be on the look-out for suspicious activity.

More than a dozen guns were stolen during the burgalries yesterday, the sheriff’s office reports.

Thieves have broken into houses on Ballsville Rd., Powhatan Lakes Rd., Petersburg Rd., Stavemill Rd., and a home on the western end of Three Bridge Rd.

A resident last week witnessed two people break into his home on Timber Trace Rd.

One was described only as a black male with “long cornrows;” the second person was described as a female of unknown race. The pair left the residence in a small to medium-size black car.

Jewelry, electronics and cash have been taken during the recent burglaries.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 804-598-5656 or Powhatan Crime Solvers at 804-403-4357.

There is a typo in this article. It should say Aug 3 and not July 3. Out of the 7 houses on our side of Genito, 3 have been burglarized in the past year (including us). Please be on the alert for suspicious vehicles along Genito road (and throughout Powhatan). Better to be safe and report a license plate than be a victim like us. We all need to pitch in to help catch these scum bags!

Two males in a white car came up and knocked on my door yesterday and I did not answer, they left no sales info and were dressed in t shirts, shorts and sneakers. They were driving a white car with fancy hubcaps, dark skinned, short hair. I called the sheriff and they are looking for them. Keep your doors locked and do not open to strangers.

Just to clarify Powhatan resident’s comment.  Genito is a long road.  The incidents today happened on Genito near Dorset.  So residents beware and report any suspicious vehicles to the sheriffs office immediately.  They might be at your neighbor’s house and if the sheriff is alerted in time, they will be caught.  Stay alert and keep your doors locked.

And now today, 2 houses on Genito, within several hundred feet….come on, catch these creeps!

They are occurring across the county, not just in a localized area.
