Relay for Life will aim for the fences

Relay for Life of Powhatan will hold “Knock cancer out of the park,” Friday May 29 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at the Powhatan Junior High School football field.

The event kicks off with an opening ceremony, prayer, and a speech by the event’s honorary chairman Winfred Taylor. There will be entertainment throughout the night including karaoke and a “womanless beauty contest.”

Youth team members must have a chaperone to stay overnight and they must be signed on to a team before the day of the event. The youth curfew is 11 p.m.

The event’s rain location is Powhatan High School.
