Claude, They good Ole’ Days are gone. If someone breaks or enters your house you have to prove that you and your family are at “Deadly Danger” If they enter and go to the kitchen and eat something and leave you will go to JAIL! If they show no signs that they are there to harm you or your family our “LAWS” are for them not you proving safety!!!!! YOu have to call the Police first and exit the house! But if they have a weapon you are allowed to BLOW THEM AWAY! But not if they enter to steal or eat. They have to show a weapon. GO FIGURE WHY THERE ARE SO MANY BREAK’ins ! They (CRIMMINALS) have right you don’t! LIBERAL & SOCIALISM are the norm now, not the old days of MANNERS AND Honesty and values! Claude of Powhatan

I wonder what they will do if someone is home at the time, when the house is supposedly empty. Maybe it is time to stop putting off taking that Firearms Safety Course. Always keep the doors locked, have a plan when an intruder comes to the door, maybe they will get a surprise ! .The “good old days” are gone when you could trust your local neighborhoods. CORR-WRONG… I’m no lawyer, but I do know… The local Powhatan police CAN and DO have the authority by State law to conduct a search ANYTIME they suspect you are doing anything illegal—WITHOUT A WARRANT. They can come onto your property, irrespective of a judges former decision if you have committed a crime also. If you hurt someone or are in the process of hurting someone they have Federal authority. This means the Powhatan police only have to have a “reasonable suspicion” you’re up to no good—if he simply thinks you’re up to no good he CAN arrest you. In other words, if you’re doing something illegal in your car or home or on someone else’s property and Mr. Powhatan Policeman walks by and sees you through the window say with stolen goodies or building a bomb or doing drugs or pointing a firearm or weapon at someone or with an open bottle of beer in your car or doing anything morally deficient for lack of a more colorful phrase, they can and will come arrest you and it WILL stick in court… By the way, he can do this on or off duty at any time 24/7/365. Just because you’re cruising around doesn’t mean he can’t stop you—they do this in New Kent to be sure all the time, this is why the police watch the cars in the local area and stop the ones they haven’t seen before for any reason, if nothing more than to perform a courtesy safety check. If he sees you have a gun or drugs or an open bottle of liquor in your passengers seat—or someone else’s stuff, you’re screwed… Bill Bruce of Cumberland

Al, your comments are stereo TYPING that “Grey” car!! Ha HA .........I believe that those guys are from El Salvador!! Please don’t forget, if they are stop by any Police Department they “Can’t ask for ID” that would violate thier right to be here ILLEGALLY! People really need to change & not get so upset when thier property and jobs and have to press “1” to get “English” when dialling “911” to report a CRIME!!!!! LIBERAL will drag this Country into Socialism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking to FAIRTAX.ORG Al Cranston of Powhatan, Virginia

Might that have something to do with the white mystery van and the grey 4 door small car full of Mexican guys cruising around the back roads of Powhatan like Pierce Road in the early hours of the morning lately, say 7am’ish ? ECPI Technical College lets out after 1pm as well—Lord only knows why the burglaries always seem to happen after that in the afternoon.
