Shooting suspects sought Published: June 25, 2008 By M. Weldon Copley Updated June 30, 2008 11:37 a.m. ![]() Taliaferro Powhatan authorities confirmed that Tahliek Taliaferro, a resident of Powhatan County, was shot and killed Tuesday when the passengers of a white Dodge Durango opened fire with a rifle and a handgun. Taliaferro, 18, was a student at Powhatan High School and a standout on the basketball and football teams. The incident occurred yesterday at around 6:45 p.m., near the Flat Rock area of Powhatan. A second victim, a juvenile, survived the shooting and is recovering at a local hospital. Early this morning, the white Dodge Durango described to police by witnesses was found at a residence in Amelia. Physical evidence relating to the shooting was also found. Police this afternoon found the black Ford Mustang that they believe the three shooting suspects - two males and one female - were driving after the incident, but the suspects were nowhere to be found. Police said the suspects are (left to right) Stephanie Reynolds, 19, a 5’5”, 150-pound white female with brown eyes and blonde hair; Ethan Scott Parish, a 5’4”, 125-pound white male, 24, with brown hair; and Joey Parrish, a 17-year-old white male, 5’6” and 130 pounds.
Warrants have been issued for all three individuals for murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Powhatan authorities ask that if anyone has any information regarding the suspects to call their local law enforcement office or the Powhatan County Sheriff’s Office at (804) 598-5656. Memorial service for Taliaferro was held Wednesday night Prayer Service held Saturday night: Service to be held Monday Taliaferro Fund

Asides from the few posts that offered condolences and kept it moving, all but one of the posts (the one by Yvette of Powhatan on Jun. 28) came off either ignorant or in poor tastes. That’s pretty sad seeing as there are 187 comments. Did someone randomly really bring 9/11 up and offer religion in school as a solution? Folks telling folks not to speculate when they themselves are speculating and lo behold are actually somehow invested in the situation because they know either the victim or the criminal. How does that make sense? Kids these days, and judging from the comments section, along with most adults need to 1) learn the meaning of empathy 2) learn to tolerate others when they can’t and 3) handle their conflicts differently. There’s few reasons for anyone to knuckle up and there is even fewer reasons for anyone to bare arms. Also, why were these two boys even in conflict for this long? I don’t know the situation but did no adults step in? We as a society love to only react when there’s a tragedy. Always on some I only found religion or only care for a certain cause now because something extreme happened to me type nonsense. Anyway, I offer my condolences to the Taliaferro family. RIP Tahliek Taliaferro Auntie

TRUTH…If the opposite had happened it would not be considered a racial crime. All those kids live in a generation of hopelessness. ALL OF THEM! The other boys could have been killed just as easy. Pretty sad all of these KIDS think they need guns. They need a relationship with JESUS CHRIST! Who loves them and died for all of them. I pray for ALL involved. I’m not talking church either, I’m talking relationship! banks of powhatan

The three are suspects in the shooting and should be considered armed and dangerous.
