This is from WTVR channel 6—
19 year-old Stephanie Reynolds turned herself into the Powhatan Sheriff’s office at around 1:00am this morning.    Ethan and Joey Parrish, the remaining suspects in the murder of 18 year old Tahliek Taliaferro, turned themselves into the Powhatan Sheriff’s Department shortly before 7 tonight.

God does answer prayers!

FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO SAY AS A MOTHER MYSELF, MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILIES INVOLVED. WHILE EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY IS OBVIOUSLY DISTRESSED ABOUT THE ENTIRE INCIDENT, SPECULATING AND GUESSING, I HAVE YET TO READ ABOUT THE OTHER CHILD..YES CHILD THAT WAS SHOT AND HAS A LONG ROAD IN FRONT OF HIM..NOT TO MENTION THE MEMORIES THAT WILL HAUNT HIM FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE AND PHYSICAL SCARS HE WILL CARRY WITH HIM FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. AT THIS POINT WE COULD ALL WRITE COMMENTS ABOUT IT BEING RACIALLY MOTIVATED OR A RELATIONSHIP GONE BAD, BUT BOTTOM LINE YOU HAVE A LIFE LOST AND A CHILD LAYING IN THE HOSPITAL THAT HAS TO COME BACK AND RE-LIVE THIS TRADEDY OVER AND OVER AGAIN.  WHAT EVERY ONE NEEDS TO DO IS PRAY AND LEARN FROM THIS.  IF THERE HAS BEEN RACIAL TENSION WITHIN OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM, MAYBE NOW THE APPRORIATE DEPARTMENTS WILL LOOK INTO THIS A LITTLE MORE INSTEAD OF TURNING A DEAF EAR.  I AM NOT SAYING THIS EVEN STEMMED FROM A BLACK/WHITE THING, BUT OBVIOUSLY SINCE IT IS BEING THROWN AROUND THERE IS SOME TYPE OF ISSUES WITHIN THE SCHOOLS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESS REGARDLESS.  IF YOU ARE A PARENT, HUG YOUR KIDS AND LET THEM KNOW HOW MUCH THEY MEAN TO YOU.  THIS SHOULD BE A EYE OPENER FOR ALL OF US.. WE ARE SO USED TO HEARING AND READING ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS IN OTHER PARTS OF VIRGINIA AND NEVER THINK SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO CAN HAPPEN IN OUR SMALL CLOSE KNIT COMMUNITY.  NOW THAT IS HAS, IT IS UP TO THE RESIDENTS OF POWHATAN TO WORK TOGETHER TO TRY AND CHANGE OUR WAY OF THINKING TO PREVENT ANOTHER SENSELESS INCIDENT LIKE THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.

I heard that they now have all of the suspects in custody for the murder of Taliek and wounding of the other child.  I hope and pray for the whole community of Powhatan to learn from the senseless death and that we can all get along and help our youth to love one another.  Unfortunately what starts out to be a couple of teenagers not seeing eye to eye and wanting to fist fight turns out to be a horrible tragedy that has affected so many lives.  Everyone hug and kiss your kids tonight and tell them how much you love them cause you never know when your time has come.

The girl has turned herself in with family and lawyer. Did she honestly think she was getting a bond? I hope she does not get one Wednesday either when she goes to court. They also stated she was scared and tired. I want to know scared of what. They need to save it no sympathy for her.
I hope she don’t think because she turned herself in she will get a lesser sentance. She need to be charged the same as the other, not probation, 5 or 10 years, but life without parole. They do not need to see a day of their lifes on the street. Tahliek will not see powhatan streets, but he is already seeing the gold pave streets in heaven, where he is resting peacefully.

No “story” can justify what happened on Tuesday evening, however, there is a greater story to be told in the midst of our grief…Tahliek knew the story of Jesus and Tahliek was a Christian! He was a member of Little Zion Church, where he sang in the choir, ushered and served The Lord and others well! While we grieve for this young man, his family and the community, we must look to the heavens in celebration of Tahliek’s life; what a smile he had! That big, broad, genuine smile! Knowing that Tahliek is safely in the arms of Jesus, is the ultimate “story” here! May it bring you peace to know that, Tahliek is not playing for an opposing team, he is playing on God’s Team, and rest assured he is involved in every play, every down and every huddle…no more whistles, no more penalties. Tahliek, your journey continues.

First of i would like to say i have lived in this county for 20 years i grew up here i graduated school here and family and friends are here..and as a longtime resident im going to be honest about this county…even tho things happen like this all of the world and is very common but always tried to be put on hush ..racism is a horrible thing and growing up here i have seen it since day one there are alot of people that are racist here blk, wht, hispanic, asain all forms i have seen blks hate whts whts hate blks asain hate blk blk hate asain its so sad…it has always been a big deal that people always wanted to be real two faced about…and me being a white female that dated out of my race i have always had to hear all the negative things ...im not saying this was done because of race but alot of people seem to think so…i do not believe that it was done due to this but due to lifelong “beefs” between the two and other things ...i just feel like this community is really falling apart and people need to grow up and look past all the things that dont matter…im sure the race card will be pulled on this case and sure it has a little something to do with it…but its just so sad to see the same things still going on now that was going on when i was in school…I hope things will eventually change in this world but people will always have hate running thru their blood…its just a sad situation and a terrible thing to have to talk about over and over again….THIS A TRAGEDY IT REALLY IS AND IT BROKE MY HEART but to the families im so sorry and my prayers are with you!!

resident of powhatan…

by Powhatan Volunteer Jun. 28, 2008, 03:00 AM

I am not a resident of Powhatan but I am a PROUD ems volunteer. I think it’s a shame how some people have made degrading comment about the local law enforcement. You would think that after Tuesdays tragedy, Powhatan residents would come together to be strong for the victims and their families. Instead people are posting comments on the internet about things they really have NO clue about. ..

d- Are you serious? “Powhatan Sheriff department wants respect but you must give respect to all before receiving respect”. I bet you have no idea how some of these guys really feel about the whole situation. I personally know a few of the deputy’s that were the first ones on scene and this has become personal. It has NOTHING to do with respect and I feel as if you were completely out of line for making that statement. A few of them have had run-ins with Joey before. They want these kids caught and justice served just as much if not more than anyone else. Please watch your words before you start bashing the men and women who protect and serve YOU and the rest of the community.

To anyone else with doubt, just know that the Powhatan Sheriffs Office is working hard to bring closer to all of this. Did anyone stop and think that maybe information is not being released because the suspects might run if they found out the police where hot on their trail. Leave the dirty work to our “boys in blue”, and pray for their safety. If thats not good enough then go sign up for the academy and help them.

I am the sister of one of the suspects mother.  I want to say that my prayers go to the families Tahiek and the other young man that was wounded and I know my sister feels the same way, I know this is not a race issue, I don’t care what anyone says, people are always ready to try that when two different races are involved.(thats sad)my sister and her husband have always been good parents.TO THE RETIRED TEACHER IN AMELIA WHERE DO YOU GET OFF SAYING THAT THE PARENTS SHOULD BE PUNISHED, WHO ARE YOU JUDGE ANYWAY. YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE THINK THEY ARE GOING THOUGH ALOT TOO, NO THEY DIDN’T LOOSE A CHILD BY DEATH BUT THEY HAVE LOST THIER CHILDREN. AND AS FOR YOU “T” SAYING THEY DESERVE NO CONFORT OF SYMPATHY WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE AND HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN THIER SHOES.STOP THIS ... EVERYONE THAT IS MAKING THESE COMMENTS ARE SAD INDIVIDUALS. Texas
