I do believe there were roadblocks and check points immediately following the reporting of this tragedy. I believe that the sheriff’s department is acting quite well under the circumstances. Please verify the facts.

I truly think that the Powhatan Police department could have done a better job on the night of the murder. There were no roadblocks, no checkpoints, nothing. If you are from Powhatan, you should remember some years back (about 10 years)when there was another youth killing and there WERE roadblocks set up and police all over the place. If you remember that - what is the difference between the two?...GO FIGURE.

My prayers went out when my oldest daughter told us of the tragedy. I know the families of the wounded and to the other families involved I pray that the children turn theirselves in. The decease can’t speak and like 9-11 this is awake call to America.  It has hit close to home, so what are we going to do- rebel. No!  Are we praying for the lost? We need to pray daily for the save and unsave, and not when something tragedic happens.  Then, we need to talk to our youth and do more. Put prayer back in schools, and come out the church walls.  Let’s not wait until another life is taken. What would Jesus do? God bless and may this tragedy end, in Jesus’s precious name.

This is not a hate crime by definition..this is a beef gone wrong or too far…adults always what to make it more than what it really is.

no i don’t think the Sheriff department should release all that they are doing because believe it or not adults will twist that up!

I don’t think they are far away. i don’t even think they are moving about i think they are in one place.

scott: the facts are out whether you want to believe it or not. they were out when they were standing at the seen and at the IGA..yeah we all know that they all were TEENAGERS regardless if they both could have been trouble one side went to far!!! now if you want to say that’s picking sides than you can feel that way but realize thats a fact the 3 suspects took it to the limit!!

Concerned: i understand you want to make this a hate crime but when you know the truth you will understand just because it was a black/white suspect/victim the root wasn’t a black/white problem. Matter of fact from my understanding the 17 year old often carried himself in a manor that he “acted Black” whatever that means.

Remember #17

Challenge Today, please
1. Raise/Donate $17 for Tahliek’s funeral (we all know that families are not usually prepared for a tragedy like this and therefore funeral and burial costs are crucial to them so therefore let’s get out and help Tahliek’s family).
2. Take the funds to Central Virginia Bank or call/text (804) 403-2070 and they will pick up the donations.

Powhatan County will never be the same after this tragedy… i just wish that the three (or four) responsible for this horrific crime would step forward and take responsibility for what they did… RIP Tahliek, your legacy will live on forever in the minds and hearts of everyone in Powhatan County.

THE QUESTION WAS ASKED?
WHAT MAKES IT A HATE CRIME?

COME ON PEOPLE, DON’T GET STUCK ON STUPID.  TO DO WHAT THESE PEOPLE DID YOU HAD TO HATE, HATE, THAT PERSON.  THE FACT THAT IT WAS DONE TO A BLACK INDIVIDUAL BY WHITE INDIVIDUALS MAKES IT AS THEY SAY ‘A HATE CRIME’
IT SHOULD BE CLASSIFIED AS THAT SO THAT THOSE 3 INDIVIDUALS CAN GET THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW
HATE CRIME = DEATH PENALTY.
AN EYE FOR AN EYE.

By the way, with these pictures posted all over the news, keep your eyes open for slight changes in appearance, such as changes in hair color, and length, the removal of a facial hair, etc.

How do we know what happened and what anyone is thinking until all the facts come out. The new stations are setting up in the wrong place showing the sign where the road was blocked off not where the shooting took place. People are placing blame and picking sides. I think if we look a little harder we will see trouble followed both side around. This may have been a hate crime but it was not random act. Both sides of this could have let it go and if someone else arrange this it was plenty of time to walk away.

Fox 35 reported that two of the get away vehicles were found in Powhatan.  Powhatan should be holding road blocks.  Police are able to track cell phones whether they are powered on or not.  Have these measured been taken?  Are they going door to door to family and friends of the suspects?  I’m not saying Powhatan’s Sheriff department is not working hard, but they are not giving up enough information so that the community can work with them.
