Nicolette is a special dog.  A few times a month, ‘Nicky’ strolls into the Veterans Hospital in Westwood, Calif. with her owner, Marie Mariani.  When she comes in, she brings joy to many of the wounded veterans.

The veterans race her on her wheels, because Nicolette is disabled as well.  She walks with her hind legs in a wheelchair because of a spinal injury.  However, that won’t stop Nicky. 

She is connected to Powhatan since she belongs to the daughter of Mary Jane Mariani, a teacher at Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School.
