Powhatan Today Newspaper Information ![]() A 20-year history with the community. Pride in serving our readers. An eye toward a future filled with hope and promise for a growing county. All of those ingredients go into making Powhatan's only local newspaper, Powhatan Today. Formed in June 1986 by David S. Cole and J. Edward Crump Jr., Powhatan Today has been serving and growing up with the Powhatan community for the past 20 years. Unlike other newspapers, our only focus is Powhatan County in Virginia. We are proud of our commitment to you and value your support. Powhatan Today is now owned by Media General. Powhatan Today is actively involved in your community with major sponsorships of events such as the Christmas Parade, Powhatan Village Run, Charity Golf Tournament, Relay for Life and scholarships to local schools. Another source of pride is the over 200 Virginia Press Association awards the newspaper staff earned for excellence in writing, layout and design, photography, and advertising. Although winning these awards is gratifying, we know we could not accomplish these standards of excellence without loyal readers like you. Your ideas and suggestions always make us a better newspaper. We encourage you to keep us abreast of your community. We value your input and comments. Please keep them coming. If you have comments for Publisher Joy Monopoli, call her Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (804) 598-4305. She'll be glad to talk to you. Or stop by our office at 3229 Anderson Highway and say hello. You, our readers, have made Powhatan Today a stronger and better newspaper for the past 20 years. We look forward to doing more in the years to come. |
