Powhatan County Library The Powhatan County Public Library is located at 2270 Mann Rd. in the Fighting Creek Park. The telephone number is 598-5670, the fax number is 598-5671; the library web address is www.powhatanlibrary.org. The Library director is Kimberley Armentrout.The Library offers a variety of material and library services. Fiction, non-fiction, reference, large print books, audio books and movies, as well as magazines and newspapers, comprise the adult, young adult and children's collections. Children's story hours are held each Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 for children ages 3-5. Pattycake Playtime, a lapsit program for children under three, is held each Wednesday morning at 10:30. During the summer, the Library holds its annual summer reading program featuring special presenters. The Library offers two meeting rooms for public use. Both rooms are available during Library hours by reservation. The large room is also available after hours by reservation. Contact the Library for details. During tax season, the Library hosts volunteer tax assistants such as the AARP and provides state and federal tax forms. The Library also provides copying and fax services at minimal charge. The Friends of the Powhatan Public Library is a group of citizens interested in supporting the library through fundraisers such as book sales, volunteer programs and publicity campaigns. Anyone interested in becoming a Friend of the Library should contact the Library. Books may be returned after hours to the book drop located inside the wall, near the front door. Patrons also may renew by phone or online using their card and pin numbers at www.powhatanlibrary.org/default.htm under Patron Review.
