Powhatan County Voting

Powhatan County voters will be going to the polls on November 6 for this County Election year. Virginia holds off-year elections in odd-numbered years for state offices, so there is an election at one level or another every year. There will also be some constitutional amendments on the ballot this year.

Registrar Inez Poe reports that more than 12,650 Powhatan residents are registered to vote in the November election thus far. If you have not registered to vote, you may do so in the Registrar's Office in the Administrative Office building on Old Buckingham Road. You may also call the office at 598-5604 for forms to register by mail. The registration deadline is 28 days before the election.

There are nine voting precincts in the county. New voters should ascertain from the Registrar's office before November 6 in which precinct they are to cast their ballots. The precincts and their locations are:

#101 Manakin. Manakin Episcopal Church, 985 Huguenot Trail (Route 711 near Huguenot Springs Road).

#102 Sublett's. Fine Creek Fire Department, 1825 Huguenot Trail (Route 711 and Judes Ferry Road).

#201 Powhatan Station. Huguenot Fire Department, 1922 Urbine Road.

#202 Graceland Baptist Church. 975 Dorset Road.

#3 Bethesda. Bethesda Church of God, Academy Road.

#401 Powhatan Courthouse. Co. 1 Fire Department, 3971 Old Buckingham Road.

#402 Ballsville. Macon Fire Department, 6377 Old Buckingham Road.

#501 Smith Cross Roads. Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2591 Ridge Road.

#502 Pineville. Fine Creek Baptist Church, Huguenot Trail (Route 711 near Route 522).

Once registered, a voter needs to register again if he or she moves to another district in the county or fails to vote at least once in the four years following registration.
