Stephanie Yarbrough Sisson
Stephanie Yarbrough Sisson, of Powhatan, Virginia, ended her battle with lung cancer and entered the paradise of our Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
Born in Durham, North Carolina, December 9, 1946, to Sarah and Page Yarbrough, Stephanie worked as an X-Ray Technician for 24 years at Midlothian Family Practice. She was always at her happiest when helping others. Along with her beloved husband, Rev. William Sisson, she was the rock of Emmaus Christian Church. Whether a loving word, warm meal or as a bedside companion, Stephanie was there for anyone at any time.
Outside of the church, Stephanie’s purest joy came from spending time with her granddaughter, Kylie. Initially diagnosed with cancer when Kylie was one year old, Stephanie gained a tremendous amount of peace realizing she lived long enough for Kylie to always remember her “Gagi.” She was also fortunate enough to know that her second granddaughter, Adelyn, was born safely two days before Stephanie’s passing.
In addition to her adoring husband and beautiful granddaughters, Stephanie is survived by her devoted daughter, Kendell, who steadfastly guided her mother through each and every complexity of the illness; and loving son, Jeff; her sister, Janelle; several nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Tom Ryan; and daughter-in-law, Megan Jenkins. Services will be held at 1 p.m. July 24, 2010, at Emmaus Christian Church in Powhatan. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Emmaus Christian Church is her request
