Nathan Allen
Nathan Allen, of Powhatan, Va., departed this life August 9, 2010. He is survived by his devoted mother, Addie Allen; two sisters, Juanita Robinson and Genita Allen; five brothers, Thomas, James (Kenny), Jerome and Howard Allen and Robert Pegram; fiancee, Luritha Carter; stepson, James Carter III; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Remains rested at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street. Funeral service were held Friday, August 13 at Hollywood Baptist Church, 3764 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan, Rev. Otis Lockhart Jr., pastor, officiating. Interment church cemetery.
Carrie Elizabeth Mason Bowman
Carrie Elizabeth Mason Bowman, 89, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2010. She was the widow of Martin Bowman and is survived by her daughter, Marie Moss and husband, Bill; sons, Billy Bowman and wife, Janice, Philip Bowman and wife, Pat, Johnny Bowman and wife, Anne and Don Bowman and wife, Terry; sisters, Mildred Witt, Doris Witt, and Susie Williams; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Bowman was a member of Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road.
Her funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 18, at the funeral home. Interment followed at Dale Memorial Park.
Katherine Cross Passmore
Katherine Cross Passmore, of Powhatan, died August 19, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Dillard R. Passmore; four children, Kenneth Passmore, Danny Passmore, both of Powhatan, Karen Passmore of Prince Edward, Pamela Franklin of Powhatan; three sisters, Ruth Waters of Michigan, Wilma Day and JoAnn Moffitt, both of North Carolina; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharlene Rowe. The family received friends on August 22 at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rte. 60), Powhatan and where funeral services were held Monday. Interment Old Powhatan Baptist Church Cemetery.
