Burch, Sr. Robert

Robert “Guy” Burch Sr., 91, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord September 22, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea Burch; and is survived by his sons, Robert Jr. and his wife, Brenda, Donald and his wife, Debbie, Mike and his wife, Kim, and Pat and his wife, Susan, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Angela Shibley, Teresa Kane, Andy Burch, Jason and Hunter Mawyer, Thomas Burch, Kate, Cole and Hayden Burch; five great-grandchildren; and brother, William C. Burch and his wife, Sylvia. Mr. Burch was a proud member of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII in the 101st Airborne in the European Theater. He retired from Watkins Nursery.

He was an avid wood worker with hand tools and demonstrated his work in hand crafted heirlooms. A memorial service was held 4 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2011, followed by a gathering of family and friends at Bliley’s - Chippenham.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Virginia.
