Fair group thanks those who helped with Chow Down Published: April 27, 2011 Dear Editor, The Powhatan Fair Association would like to thank the volunteers and the community for supporting the Chow Down Food Festival and “Hungry to Help” food Drive. Participants generously donated 1,330 meals to the Central VA Food Bank and a truckload for our local food pantry. Suprisingly, donations are still coming! Patsy Goodwin, wth the Coalition of Churches, called last week to tell me how excited she was when a Tahoe packed from front to back and top to bottom pulled up to the Powhatan Food Panty. She said, “ I stayed there until 9pm stocking the shelves that were almost bare…this was right on time.” A heartfelt thanks to all who made this happen: EZ (100.5 FM) and staff Dr. Phil, Caval Phillips and Yvonne Hagen for there strong support of the festival. The great staff of Powhatan County Parks and Recreation and the numerous friends of the Chow Down, who were enthusiastic, accomodating and encouraging. Thanks to Erik Weems, graphic design for the Web site and poster design, Exact Printing for creating our logo and banners, and Latika Lee’s marketing plan to spread the word about our cause. It couldn’t have happened without the commitment from our volunteers, the churches, Powhatan schools and the Powhatan community who brought donations for the food drive. Thank you for your generous support. Runda Harris |
