Presidential Inauguration
The nation is closing in on the inauguration of the first African-American president. What are your thoughts on this historic event?

To Amanda Thomas - you are calling those who posted their concerns and thoughts racist.  Based on what?  Because we aren’t happy at who the president is.  Not once in any of these posts did anyone say it was b/c of his race.  I did mention that he won based on race, that is how I feel about it - that the election focused so much on that race vs. qualifications.  But that doesn’t make me a racist.  You on the other hand are very judgmental.

Well I can see Powhatan has not changed at all. Still full of racists. God help you all, you need it.

I do not celebrate this inauguration for the race of the man who won. I celebrate the return to the rule of law, finally after eight long years of the most corrupt and damaging administration since Hoover. I celebrate the return to the edicts of the Constitution, which has been largely ignored since the 2000 presidential appointment. To reduce this historic election to an issue of race is shallow, as the previous shallow comments illustrate. Finally we will have a scholar, a proffesor of the constitution for twelve years, a man who has shown honesty, compassion, and intelligence over and over. And yet once again we are barraged with the “media bias” with which President Elect Obama supposedly won the election. How exactly was the media biased when it recorded McCains evident emotional breakdown not once, but numerous times during the campaign: let me revive your memories: McCain wringing his hands and calling off the campaign when the Bush legacy finally bottomed out in the worst financial crisis since the Depression? How could the media have portrayed Palin any other way than the way she protrayed herself- good looking but ignorant of simple basic facts of the political process? How could the media have found terrorist connections to President Elect Obama when none existed? Only Bush and Cheney can do that (recalling the drumbeat to war with Iraq, which now both of them are saying “there were no WMDs or Alkida connections.”). Wake up, Americans, to a new world in which your racist notions are no longer usefull. Be a real American and embrace the new President with your support, then revel in the return to the rule of law he has promised us.
As far as I can see, the soulless followers of deceit and the hollow body of corruption are returning to Texas (a whites-only neighborhood in Dallas as I heard it), or to Dubai (Cheneys new address) on January 20, 2009. I am sure there is room for anyone plotting against the United States of America there.

I am saddened by the sale of the US Presidency to the elite media, Hollywood, the liberal voters of the Northeast and California, and others.  I am proud of the Powhatan citizens for their support of John McCain and even Gilmore over Warner.  The one good thing of the current economic downturn is that it will slow or maybe stop the liberal tax and spending agenda of the Democrats in Congress and H. Obama.  Let’s hope our local officals will keep taxes and spending in line with needs as we will certainly be hit by the federal and state officials.(Kain is already asking for tax increases)  But don’t count on that!!!

Historical?  Why b/c he was voted in simply because of his race.  “African-American” - which part of Africa is he from?  If you are born here, you are an American.  I have decents from other countries but I am an American.  Regardles of my race.  Period.  Ridiculous.  This election was all about race and it shouldn’t have been.  His ties with terrorists and his lack of experience should have prevented him from being elected.  Sad day for Americans.

Well said.  I’m proud to be an American but I am very concerned at the direction this once great country is headed.  God help us!

This historic event we face is not so much a grand triumph of courage, integrity, and might.  This is the peak from which we are to fall from.  Falling so fast, with no turning back.  This is a year we celebrate apathy rather than spirituality.  We celebrate the tolerance of our enemies, and laugh at the intolerance of our own people.  But this is not a sad day for Americans.

This is the year that we see a man take the office of president who never had to prove anything of his citizenship.  A man whose smile makes up for his lack of experience.  A man whose promise of change makes people forget about his associations with terrorists.  A man who motivates with “Yes we can” creates the illusion we can overcome a coming depression and the death of capitalism.  A man who openly steps on our constitution.  But this is not a sad day for Americans.

This year we celebrate corruption, and crime. Despite the media refusing to tell Americans the truth, our wonderful friends online have made it clear.  There will be change, but it’s not for the people.  There will be money, but it’s not for the people.  But this is not a sad day for Americans.

This is not a sad day for Americans because true Americans can see behind the lies, can see beyond the media, can see the real Mr. Soetoro a.k.a Barrack Obama.  Real Americans know there is no turning back.  Our country is becoming a new socialist union and our country does not care.  But the Americans care.

The pure blooded sons of liberty are here!  Because America is dying, but our constitution lives forever!  We are not the soulless followers of deceit, we are not the hollow body of corruption.  We are the Patriots!  We will fight when the bell rings, we will fight when the watch calls, and we will win!  Liberty will conquer.
