The decision to build a mosque near Ground Zero has been the source of heated debate in recent weeks. As we near another anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, what is your take on it?

I have not seen reasonable people say that they do not have the right to build it. Nobody is arguing that point.

As usual progressives and extremist apologists try to change the substance of the debate to distract from the core issue when it does not suit their argument.

Just because you have the right to do something, does not mean you should do it. To say it is in poor taste is understating. Let’s also remember that Muslims have a history of building mosques as monuments to victory. Personally, I think that is EXACTLY what this is about.

If it were truly about healing and outreach, then they are either completely clueless, or there is another intent.

Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners causing 2,993 killed and 6000+ injured in the September 11, 2001 attacks. Oh, don’t forget the war on terror death toll…

The right to freedom of religion is not being infringed upon; some just requested to build in a place that is a little less hurtful to the families of the 2,993 people that lost their lives doing their jobs, taking care of business or just in the wrong place at the wrong time or the 6000+ injured and have to deal with it daily?

The problem with America today is we are to “politically correct.” We had terrorists fly planes into our buildings! Do you think they cared about our 2,993 people that died? No, they wanted the death counts to be much higher!!! So screw who ever get offended…

AA,
The right to freedom of religion is not being infringed upon. It’s already been approved. They have the right to build it, so build it. They knew there would be a huge controversy and they are trying to makes themselves victims, which is the progressive strategy. I liken it to burning the flag, which is also a freedom of speech issue and perfectly legal. You have a right to do it, but it’s not right to do. If the developers truly want to ” build a bridge”, they are failing miserably.

I think many, many people are against this mosque simply because it feels like a slap in the face.  It doesn’t mean legally they don’t have the right to build.  It’s just surprising considering how so much back pedaling and apologizing and such happens when other groups are offended by something that was done, built or said but that doesn’t seem to be happening with this situation.  The sensitivity is ignored.  I think American Samurai is correct as there is another motive behind this.  Do they have to build right there - can’t they build somewhere else?

So much for the first amendment (which includes freedom of religion.)  It just seems hypocritical to me when I see those who are adamantly against the Mosque touting how important the Constitution is in other debates, but apparently in this debate they’ll happily ignore it.

I think they have every right to build it, but it’s not the right thing to do.I do not approve of it. I also believe there are other motives behind the insistence to build there. The name “Cordoba” House says it all. Look it up.

i simply think it’s in poor taste.  i don’t agree but it’s just my opinion.
