We were happy with the one we had. Let the three republicans go. I think a lot of us would be more understanding of what all went down if the republicans would at least say a collective thank you to the previous administrator. Some of you may have issues with her, but she did a great job. I attended several town hall meetings in the last 5-6 years and always noticed not only the kindness of her, but how she knew absolutely everything, from zoning issues, to water and sewer, any topic and she spoke fluently on them all. A true leader that did not cross the policy line. Dr. Miguelito Loveless of The Wild Wild West

I work for the county - maybe not much longer. I know Carolyn Bishop was a true leader and it absolutely amazes me that you continue to blame her for what thee Board did by hiring or whatever. The county administrator IMPLEMENTS decisions made by the Board. And, it has been said numerous times that S. Davis created a mess that Carolyn had to clean up. I saw the mess. Several of us talked to the old Board about issues we he had with Mrs. Davis. To no interest of the Board. So she “left”. I know Carolyn tried to make it work with Davis. I would imagine she discussed it with the Board too but she didn’t discuss personnell issues so I don’t know that for sure. But, many of us in the office knew Carolyn always had to edit her work for presentations or whatever else. And, she was very negative in her dealings. Bottom line, the BOARD leads the county and the county administrator implements it based on BOARD discussion, decision, whatever you want to call it. And, we always knew the Board was responsible for letting Ms. Davis keep her job even with her flaws. So, I am with you, I want a new administrator like Carolyn. It always amazed me how she took the time to truly understand all of the issues the staff brought her, and she was able to clearly lead the Board through all of the issues staff brought to the meetings. She knew everything. She was smart and staff appreciated it. In addition, as we hadn’t gotten raises or anything in many years, she did the lion’s share of trying to keep the morale up for staff. That is what we call true leadership. JC of the sky

To Lord To think decisions in this county have not been made by only three people is native. Mr. Tucker knows all too well that phone calls between board members behind the scenes have addressed several issues. i also do not understand why people continue to defend a person who oversaw all of the issues that have come to light over the budget retreat. Yeah right. They asked her to resign to be nice. Most of us see right through that, so you can say it as many times as you want, that is easy to see through. Way to justify. Like is Ms. Biahop had simply “resigned” we wouldn’t all through that too. And, it should have been handled with all five board members when they were official. Doing it any earlier and not with all of them is unethical. period. Powhatan girl of Powhatan

Not sure what ‘crimes’ were committed. As I believe has been explained, private citizens have the right to meet and/or communicate with county officials. That was done when the 2 new board members first approached Ms. Biship to advise she was going to be asked to resign. That could have been done with grace but instead, knowing the handwriting was on the wall, a different approach was taken with the resulting hurt and harsh feelings all around. From a purely PR standpoint, they may have shot themselves in the foot, but I think your idea of a ‘criminal’ act may be out of line with reality. Powhatan Citizen

I would like to see someone hired that is qualified, realizes the job is 24/7, and willing to attend local functions. I would like someone hired that is willing to live in the community and endure the problems that the BOS create. We had that person. I believe to save the community of Powhatan that Mrs. Bishop should be rehired with a raise. Dedication should be rewarded. The BOS has made me embarrassed to be a Republican.
