Briefs and scores (week of 3/26/08) Junior High softball team places second at HalifaxThe PJHS Indians started off their season with a second place finish in the Halifax Invitational in South Boston, Virginia. The Indians defeated Franklin County 14-0 in the first game and were defeated by Halifax in the final game. The Indians were led by Michelle White’s bat, Sierra Ford’s pitching, and Courtney Deal’s defensive plays. The girls will resume their games after spring break on April 2nd. Junior High baseball team falls to Halifax, dominates NorthernThe Junior High baseball team recently traveled to Halifax to compete in the Annual Preseason Halifax Tournament Saturday. In the first game the Indians went up against an experienced Franklin squad and were led by Alex Huguchi going 3-5 with two back to back home runs. The Indians ultimately fell short, losing 17-11, in an exciting see-saw battle after scoring eight runs in the first inning. Next, the Indians were pitted against Northern in the consolation game. The Indians set the tone with great pitching from almost the entire staff and continued the domination at the plate. The Indians were led by Tyler Robinson going 2-3 with a triple and Colby Franklin going 4-4 with three singles and a triple. In the end, Powhatan defeated Northern 11-1. Next the Indians play at home against Lunenburg on April 2.

BSH vs. Brunswick Aca.March 20 at Lake Gaston Golf Club
After a season opening win, BSH stumbled badly on a blustery day and tight golf course at Brunswick Academy. BSH fielded only 4 players making each score count in the match. BSH 5th man, Eddie Schneider, had the best day by turning in the second low score for BSH. Upcoming: Tuesday, April 1 at Kenston Forest Tennis
