Martial Arts World team triumphs in Florida By Roslyn Ryan
Apr 02, 2008 Students from Powhatan’s Martial Arts World traveled to Florida March 15 to test their skills against five other Martial Arts World schools. The students, collectively known as the Dream Team, had begun practicing in mid- January, and had been putting in three tough sessions a week in preparation for the competition. They also held a number of fund raisers to support the trip, and ended up raising a grand total of $1,700. In the end, all the students’ hard work paid off. They finished with a first place win in the best technique category, a first for the school. Last March also marked the first time the Powhatan facility had taken a group to the Florida competition.
Said Instructor Donzell Lewis, “I’m very proud of them. They did very, very well.”
