What’s their secret? Dino might!

When the five co-captains of the Powhatan girls soccer team were looking for a way to instill a sense of camaraderie in their young squad, they knew only two things for sure: they wanted the group to be closer then they had been in years past, and they wanted to have some fun.

“We wanted to start a tradition,” said Courtney Fields, one that would help bond the team together. A scavenger hunt they staged for the rest of the team resulted in not only a newly forged sense of teamwork but also a rather unlikely mascot for the determined 2010 team.

Dino, above, has earned a place of honor on the team, heading home with a different player every night and presiding over practices. Above, from left to right Marielle Rando, Shannon Brawley, Amanda Sowers, Courtney Fields and Lindsay Rourke.
